Woven by hand. Carried by family.

In the Atlas Mountains, the day starts slowly. Smoke rises from the kitchen, tea is poured, and somewhere inside a stone house, a loom is already moving.

We are a Berber family, and rugs are not just what we sell. They are what we grew up around. [One true memory: a grandmother weaving, the sound of the loom, a childhood home.] We learned early that every knot holds a decision, every pattern a story, and every rug someone’s patience.

The women behind every piece

Many of the rugs and blankets you see here are made by Berber women in rural Morocco. They weave between the work of the day, with skill passed from mother to daughter over generations. For a long time, that skill earned them very little, even though the work was extraordinary.

We started Okaymden to change that. OKAYMDEN Minimalist Modern Logo

We work directly with these artisans and pay them fairly for their time and talent. [Add one real detail: how you work with them, for example paying fair prices up front, working with the same families, or returning to the same villages.] When you buy from us, the money does not disappear into a long chain of middlemen. It goes to the women who made your piece, and to the families and villages they support.

The Handira: a blanket with a heart

In the Atlas, the Handira is a wedding blanket. Brides have wrapped themselves in these sequined wool blankets for generations, and each one carries celebration, hope and a new beginning. We search the mountain villages for these pieces, and each one that reaches you has a life behind it.

What this means for your home

A machine can make a rug. It cannot make this one. Yours will have small, honest imperfections, and each one is proof that human hands were here.

When it lands in your living room or across your bed, you are not just decorating. You are keeping a tradition alive and helping a woman in the Atlas build a better future for her family.

Thank you for being part of our story.
